Fukushima, 10 years later. On March 11, 2021, Japan commemorates 10 years of the Tohoku Pacific Coast earthquake and tsunami.
This natural disaster killed 18,500 people. 90% of them were killed by the tsunami surge. The coastal strip suffered the shock of the equivalent of a multi-storey building launched at 50 km/h. The murderous waters sank up to 10 kilometers inland.
The earthquake and tsunami caused numerous industrial disasters along the coast, causing loss of life and major damage to the environment.

While no deaths or an increase in cancer have been observed from radioactive releases, and none is expected in the future. And it is now accepted that the evacuation responsible for 2,200 deaths was too large and too extensive in time.
